Elia Leon, staff writer

Despite describing herself as shy, Elia Leon, has lots of goals for her first year of high school. From learning to use a camera to attending dances and events, she plans to make this year very productive. Besides getting her work done and passing her classes, she wants to work towards becoming more social and comfortable with her peers. She predicts her favorite subjects this year will be biology and math.

While at first Leon had dreams of becoming a teacher, she now envisions her future in the beauty industry.

“I wanted to be a teacher first but now I want to be a cosmetologist and do lashes, hair and nails instead. I have nieces and nephews and I feel like I wouldn’t be very good with kids because I get really overstimulated,” Leon said.

Most teenagers find peace in scrolling after a long day at school. However, Leon prefers spending time with her cat, Minino, outside. Seeing  Minino, happily enjoying nature and exploring his surroundings brings her peace after a long day. Leon has many expectations for her freshman year but overall hopes to have a peaceful drama-free year of learning. Leon is committed to creating a good start to the next four years of her life as a student.
