After four years of high school learning and competing in different sports, student athletes Jacob,12, Morales and Addison Bruzzi, 12, were both nominated for athletes of the year. These two seniors were recognized for their hard work and dedication while competing in sports throughout their high school years.
Morales and Bruzzi said playing multiple sports helped them build discipline, confidence and leadership skills. With support from their teammates and families, they grew both on and off the field, earning Athlete of the year honors their hard work and positive impact they brought to their teams and school community.
Athletic Director Victor Garduno selected Jacob Morales and Addison Bruzzi as athletes of the year because of their leadership, maturity, and impact on their teams. Morales stood out as a quiet, consistent leader in football and baseball, while Bruzzi led through her actions and experience in high pressure softball situations. Both athletes were honored for their dedication, growth, and ability to support their teammates.
“You could see the leadership in different ways with both of them. Jacob was a quiet leader who just went out and did his job, and Addie led with her voice and experience, especially in big playoff moments,”
Senior Jacob Morales started playing baseball when he was five and had competed all four years of high school, then picked up football his senior year. He said sports had taught him discipline and how to keep pushing through tough moments.
“When I step on that field, I just feel happy, I love competing, playing with my teammates and just being out there, It feels like home,” Morales said.
Senior Addison Bruzzi started playing sports at four years old and played soccer, softball, volleyball and flag football throughout her high school years. Through sports, she learned determination, leadership and teamwork while building close friendships with her teammates.
Bruzzi is proud that she being named athlete of the year and said it was an honor because being recognized for the hard work and dedication she gave to her teams and school sports
“Being named athlete of the year has truly been such an honor, being recognized for my hard work and dedication is such an accomplishment,” Bruzzi said
