The culture clubs can showcase diversity and inclusivity through dance performances and informational events about cultural history on campus, ensuring that everyone can find a place where they can express themselves.
Polynesian, Ritmo Latino, and Black Student Union are all here for those who want to learn more about other cultures on campus. They have welcomed students who just want to have a spot where they can hang out, be themselves, and have fun. But these clubs also make sure to show and teach the history to those who might not know much, making this campus a place where we can appreciate other cultures.
“We are able to voice our opinion and contribute to any of the dances,” Ritmo Latino member Alexandra Hernandez, 11, said. The allows its members to express their voices and themselves through their choreography, showcasing their unique personalities.
Finding a way to express themself other than words, Ritmo Latino put their passion and love for their culture in a form of art, dance. Always welcoming anyone who is interested. They come together every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to the latest 7:00 p.m. to practice for events on campus. It’s also a place where the members of the club can voice their opinions and showcase a part of their culture and personality in their dancing. But this all comes from hard work and dedication, putting in the time after school and coming for every practice with an open and positive mindset, ready to work with others and build those relationships. They have shown this with their last performance on November 3rd, during lunch, with five of their members.
