With the spring season at its peak, excitement for spring sports blooms. Among the many athletes eager to compete is Synthia Stacco, a returning track and field athlete. In her second year, Stacco has made a name for herself, earning the title of Athlete of the Week. But, aside from her athletics, she’s made a lasting impression on her team.
“Synthia is a great teammate. She always finds a way to make competitive games fun and exciting with her personality,” Xitlalic Gonzalez, 12, said.
Stacco’s journey first began during her sophomore year, encouraged by her friends who were all joining the team. Initially, she saw the sport as a fun way to spend time with them. However, she’s mastered the game this spring season.
“My friends were all joining track and field, and since I rather stay with my friends, I joined track for fun, and to expand my horizons to new activities. After a while, I started to love it. And eventually, I started beating my personal records, getting better and better every meet,” Synthia Stacco, 11, said.
For Stacco, her second season has been her best yet, setting records for Discus and Shotput, putting her best efforts into becoming the best she can be, despite only participating in track and field since sophomore year.
“In just her second season, Synthia is dominating the Shot Put & Discus events! Leading the conference in both categories, she’s proven that hard work and determination pay off. Proud to see her representing the Patriots so strongly,” Head coach, Mike Mena, said.
