Jessica Young
Something for everyone. Dresses are available in sizes 00-32 and in every color of the rainbow at the Princess Project.
Sequins, taffeta, and chiffon–oh my! On April 2, more than thirty students will have help in making their Prom dreams come true. The Princess Project, a non-profit organization, provides opportunities for students around San Diego county (and beyond) to get dresses and accessories for events like Prom and Military Ball for free. For more than ten years, students from Orange Glen have been treated to an exclusive shopping experience, where they can browse hundreds of dresses and find the perfect ‘fit for their upcoming events. With the help of site administration, students will be able to spend part of the day on a fieldtrip and immersive shopping experience, traveling by bus to the Mission Valley Mall, which is home to the Princess Shop.

Once students arrive at the venue, they are assigned a personal shopper to help them find their dress. They’ll be able to call out the colors, styles and vibe they want in their formal attire. Along with the dress they choose, princesses will also get a free accessory to go along with their dress. The Princess Project takes over an empty storefront and fills the space, wall to wall, with dresses of every size, color and style imaginable.

Students who are interested in attending the Princess Project should see Jessica Young in Room 731. An informational meeting will be held on Monday, March 17 in Young’s classroom. Students who cannot attend the meeting can follow up to get a permission slip and find out how to participate. All permission slips are due back to Young no later than March 28.
